New Texas Robotics Honors Undergraduate Program
The new Texas Robotics Honors Undergraduate Program includes a holistic, multidisciplinary study of robotics with hands-on robotics research, courses across engineering and computer science, engagement with Texas Robotics events and programs, and a community of fellow future makers and innovators that will change the world. All students are encouraged to apply regardless of experience level.
Benefits:
- Gain experience doing hands-on robotics research
- Earn a Minor in Robotics
- Be in community with other roboticists and innovators on campus including robotics student organizations such as RAS, TAR, ECLAIR
- Networking opportunities with fellow undergraduates, graduate students, robotics faculty and staff
- Utilize world-class robotics faculty & facilities at the Anna Hiss Gymnasium
- Work with a dedicated Robotics Advisor to assist students with robotics course registration, accessing resources, and ensuring academic success
Components:
Students admitted into the Texas Robotics Honors Undergraduate Program will have the opportunity to participate in the following robotics experiences:
Optional Living and Learning Community: Upon entering the University of Texas, students admitted to the program will have the opportunity to join a living and learning community with their program cohort.

Freshman Research Initiative (FRI): During their freshman year, students will join the largest undergraduate research program in the country through the FRI. The FRI empowers first-year students with the opportunity to initiate and engage in real-world robotics research experience with Texas Robotics faculty laboratories. Students have the opportunity to continue to pursue their research further into their undergraduate careers. The Texas Robotics Undergraduate Program gives a unique opportunity for students outside of the College of Natural Sciences to engage with the FRI.

Minor in Robotics: On admission to the program, students would be offered a spot in the Robotics Minor, contingent on academic success during their first semesters in residence. Students will begin the minor their sophomore or junior year at UT, through which they will pursue a breadth of interdisciplinary robotics studies, including "RBT 350," an exclusive "Introduction to Robotics" course that will enable students to take robotics courses outside of their major and college.
